Les Weisbrich: Retrospective and Silent Auction

The late Robert Leslie “Les” Weisbrich was an internationally-recognized artist who lived in New Denver BC. He moved with his family to Canada in 1972, settling in New Denver where he continued to exhibit his work regularly and ran his own art gallery just north of the city. He also taught watercolour workshops to many students from Canada and the US and was very active in the preservation of local Kootenay parks and wild spaces. He was the recipient of many honours and awards and his work is collected internationally. He passed away in February, 2006.

This small collection of watercolours has been in the possession of the Slocan Lake Arts Council since 2017 when the first Retrospective was presented in a short showing in late November/December of that year. The collection has had an extended visit due to delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The SLAC and Weisbrich’s family would like to give Slocan residents one last chance to view these legendary works displayed on the walls of this historic space, prior to their return.

Now’s your chance to own a piece of the Weisbrich collection!

All 29 pieces are for sale via online silent auction. Bidding closes May 30, 2023, with 20% of sale proceeds support the Slocan Lake Arts Council.
