About Joyce Schwartz

Inspired by the “Beauty and Magic” of Nature, Joyce creates “Earth Mandalas” with acrylic paint on wood.

Ever since she can remember, she’s played with creativity in the forms of stained glass, building things from wood, driftwood and so many other forms of art.

She especially enjoys bringing and sharing this creativity with children of all ages. Workshops and working one-on-one with children are some of her most precious memories. Children inspire her to “slow down” and see the detail and the intricacies that we may miss in our busy lives. Children are in many ways “organic by nature”.

Living in the Silverton area for over 30 years has inspired her to create and play with artistic form. Now, with a big move from Nelson to Silverton on a piece of land, she hopes to tap into that on an even deeper realm of creativity, and to “play” in this space.

Mandala Mural Making

The Oot n' Oots!

JUNO nominated The Oot n’ Oots is a jam band for the whole family. Audiences have described them as “like watching the Grateful Dead fronted by Janis Joplin singing songs by Jim Henson”. The family band includes 16-year-old “force of nature” (Bill Childs) Ruthie Cipes with her dad Ez and uncles Ari, Gabe, and Matthew.

In performance, the Oots’ all analogue, all-ages rock show casts a spell of freedom, lightheartedness, and laughter with music that draws on the wide history of rock n’ roll. They bring joy, community, and understanding through the free-spirited musical performance of songs by turns wise and absurd.
