Slocan Lake Arts Council (SLAC) is seeking a office administrator/communications manager to assist with general office duties and the administration of local artistic productions in the communities of Silverton and New Denver. 


This is a new but vital role in the development and growth of the Arts Council.  A passion for the arts and a desire to develop and assist our organization in it's development is essential. The ideal candidate is someone who is self-directed and highly organized with a desire to create systems of organization and delegation. Social media prowess and some design experience are strong assets. 


The administrator will work closely with members of the board and will be required to engage with professionals and patrons. Office hours/working from home will be negotiated as required seasonally.

 Duties of the Administrator and Communication Manager:

Bookings Responsibilities 

Check email from slacbookings@gmail.com 

Communicate with potential renters and refer and relay confirmed and tentative bookings to the SLAC Calendar. 

Communicate with the treasurer as to the purpose and placement of financial transactions.

Send out rental agreements.

Communicate lockbox codes to renters at appropriate intervals. 

Maintain electronic files of the event sheets and bookings. 

Book cleanings post rentals with cleaning personnel. 


Minutes 

Receive minutes from committees. 

Create and Maintain Digital File Folders. 

Print hardcopies of Minutes and File. 

Marketing 

Create Social Media postings 

Format and Edit SLAC Newsletter 

Submit Valley Voice Press Releases/Classifieds/Ads 

Initiate Hall Printing Orders, Collect (or arrange for collection) Poster Distribution 

CKCA Administrator Role (1x/yr). 

Communicate with and follow the directions as set out by CKCA. 

General 

Help coordinate our team using Asana.

Keep up with registrations and track tickets sales for current events. 

Communicate financials with treasurer.

Attend Board Meetings

Receive communications and follow through with job requests accordingly. 

Grants 

Keep up with and communicate upcoming grant deadlines with community grant organizations: CKCA, BCAC, Kootenay Savings, CBT, Legacy Fund, Rec 6.


This is a brand new position that will inevitably evolve and define itself as time progresses. The successful candidate must be prepared to engage actively with our team and ultimately work towards a self-directed leadership role. 


Part time hours, flexible, varying seasonally. 

Negotiable, $28-$32/hr
