Spark in the Dark

Spark in the Dark is a free, community-based annual event held throughout January in New Denver, BC. Under the theme “Invite the Light,” the month-long celebration includes free public lantern-making workshops, volunteer-led school workshops, local artist commissions, and performances featuring fire spinners, dancers, musicians, and DJs.

The festivities culminate in a free evening festival at the end of January. A lantern parade winds through the village streets, passes by the Pavilion Extended Care facility and culminates at Bosun Hall for a vibrant outdoor street party that celebrates community connection and the gradual return of light during the winter season.
